Information we collect and use
- Orders and reservations: your name, email, billing and shipping details, purchase history, and correspondence. We use these to process purchases, manage reservation priority, provide support, issue refunds, and keep accounting records. Shopify processes payments; we do not receive your full card number or security code.
- Newsletter: your email address, signup source, and signup date. We use Omnisend to send the updates you request and measure email clicks and purchases attributed to those emails. Reservation messages about using your reservation are separate from newsletter marketing.
- Website use: pages visited, referring pages, device and browser information, approximate location, interactions, and technical performance information. Google Analytics and PostHog help us understand and improve the site. PostHog also provides heatmaps and session replays, including clicks, scrolling, page content, and browser console logs. Form inputs and email addresses displayed after signup are excluded or masked in replays.
When website analytics is enabled, we attach campaign details and an anonymous analytics identifier to checkout so we can connect visits with paid orders. We send PostHog the order reference, amount, currency, and campaign details, without your name, email address, or payment details.
Where data protection law requires a lawful basis, we rely on performing our contract for orders and reservations, legal obligations for required records, consent for newsletter marketing and optional tracking where required, and our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries, protecting the service, and improving its reliability. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Cookies and browser storage
Your theme preference and cookie choices are stored in your browser. Cloudflare Web Analytics measures page views and performance without cookies or persistent browser identifiers. Google Fonts supplies the website's fonts and receives the connection information needed to deliver them.
Google Analytics and PostHog use cookies and browser storage to recognise visits. In the EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland, these tools, including session replay, stay off until you accept. Elsewhere they run unless you turn them off. Use Cookie preferences in the footer to accept or reject them at any time. Rejecting stops tracking and clears their identifiers from this site's browser storage and accessible cookies; it does not erase data already collected by providers.
Shopify checkout has its own cookie and privacy controls. Your choices on this website do not automatically change your Shopify choices.
Providers and Shopify
We use hosting, security, analytics, payment, fulfilment, and email providers to operate the business. These include Cloudflare, Google, PostHog, Shopify, and Omnisend. We also disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect rights and prevent fraud.
Shopify hosts checkout and processes order information. Shopify Network Intelligence is enabled: Shopify also uses customer information with information from other merchants to improve services, personalise experiences, and support advertising. This may be considered a sale or sharing for targeted advertising under some privacy laws. We do not sell personal information for payment.

International processing
We are based in the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries with different data protection laws. Their privacy and data-processing terms explain applicable safeguards, including standard contractual clauses and recognised adequacy frameworks where relevant. How long information is kept
We keep information for the purposes described above. Retention depends on whether a reservation or order remains active, support and refund needs, accounting and legal requirements, and any unresolved dispute. Newsletter details are kept while you remain subscribed; we may retain a minimal record to honour an unsubscribe request. Analytics and replay retention depends on the provider settings and the period needed to understand site use or investigate a problem. Contact us for details or to request deletion.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from marketing using the link in our emails or by contacting us. You can withdraw optional tracking consent through Cookie preferences. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before you withdrew it.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, restrict or object to processing, and opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. Contact contact@basically.website to exercise your rights; we may need to verify your identity. We may retain information required for legal obligations or resolving a dispute. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
You can also complain to your local data protection authority, including the UK Information Commissioner's Office or an EU supervisory authority.
